What follows is my provisional translation (in other words, not official or authorized; see here for more) of a prayer by Shoghi Effendi that comes from a letter he wrote, in Persian, to all the Bahá’ís of Iran dated 1 January 1923. The original text has been published in Tawqí‘át-i-Mubárakih (1922–1926), p. 41. A typescript of it is also available here. The wording of this prayer suggests that it may have been addressed, at least in part, to ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, apostrophizing Him just thirteen months after His passing.
O tender and compassionate Master! Cast a glance, from Thine Abhá Kingdom, upon the state of these creatures nurtured by the hand of Thy bounty, and bestow strength and renown upon these oppressed people. Quench the agonizing fire of their separation from Thee and their ardent longing for Thee, and grant solace and relief through the living waters of Thy guidance unto all that dwell upon the earth. Delight the withered hearts of Thy loved ones with fresh tidings, and make the glorious edifice of Thy Cause to stand firm and lofty in that hallowed land. Remove every one of their difficulties with Thy powerful hand, and transform their anxiety and trepidation into tranquility of heart and soul. Comfort them that are enamored of Thy countenance by fulfilling their hopes, and keep safe these destitute wanderers within the stronghold of Thy shelter and protection.
