The following is my translation of a verse from chapter 1 (“On Justice and Prudence”) of the Bústán of Saʻdí. The translation follows an ABCB rhyme scheme and is set to iambic tetrameter.
Blessed be that noble one
Who bod’ly vanity forgoes
The one who’d read’ly choose instead
To see another in repose
