What follows is my provisional translation (in other words, not official or authorized; see here for more) of a prayer by ‘Abdu’l-Bahá. The original text has not been published; it was kindly provided to me by the Egypt Bahá’í History Task Force.
He is God.
O my Lord, O my Lord! This maidservant of Thine—who was attracted by the sweet savors of Thy holiness, who was set ablaze with the fire of Thy love, who cried out Thy Name and spread Thy verses among Thy creatures—hath ascended unto Thee, submissive and lowly, trusting in Thee without any provisions, relying on Thy pardon and forgiveness as she entered Thy presence, taking refuge in Thee and supplicating at Thy threshold.
O Lord! Glorify her abode, immerse her in the oceans of Thy mercy, and establish her in the midmost heart of the eternal rose garden—within the realm of lights, the focal center of mysteries.
O Lord! She believed in Thee and in Thy verses; she turned unto Thee with her heart; her spirit rejoiced and her soul was made whole; she arose to exalt Thy Word among Thy creatures. She gave every thirsty one to drink from the chalice of Thy guidance, she healed every ailing one with the sovereign remedy of Thy knowledge, she journeyed in Thy path to regions vast and distant, and she announced Thy Kingdom in various lands.
In the end, her flesh was consumed by the hardships she endured in Thy path, and afflictions and maladies beset her which wore away her frame, weakened her bones, and inflamed her vitals, such that the pangs intensified upon her heart until she abandoned this fleeting existence, yearning for the life everlasting.
O Lord! Shelter her within the precincts of Thy supreme mercy, grant her a dwelling in the meads of Thy most exalted Paradise, illumine her face with the light of Thy good-pleasure in the loftiest height, admit her into the heavenly garden of reunion with Thee, and make her to abide eternally in the assemblage of those dazzling splendors that shine resplendent upon the world of hearts and mysteries.
Verily, Thou art the Forgiver; verily, Thou art the Pardoner; and verily, Thou art the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
