Inscription on the Bab’s Signet Ring

What follows is my provisional translation (in other words, not official or authorized; see here for more) of the inscription on the Báb’s signet ring, an Arabic typescript and image of which appear at the bottom of this page. I am grateful to Khazeh Fananapazir for helping me to decipher some of the words on the ring. An earlier translation—possibly authorized and published in The Bahá’í World, vol. 16, p. 27—reads, “Praise be unto Him; there is no God but Him. This is a Path revealed by His behest, and all shall pass thereon.”

Glory be to God, besides Whom there is none other God! This is a Path from Him that all must tread.

A typescript of the original Arabic text of this inscription and an image of the original signet ring on which it is engraved (taken from the Bahá’í Media Bank) appear below. Clicking the image will open it in full resolution and allow you to enlarge it for clearer viewing.
