“If swords should rain down from the air / At the abode of that beauty…”

The following is my translation of a verse from ghazal no. 418 of Ḥáfiẓ. The translation follows an ABAB rhyme scheme and is set to iambic tetrameter.

If swords should rain down from the air
At the abode of that beauty
My neck I gladly would lay bare
To God belongs authority
