“O youth! God willing, through the bounty of the All-Merciful, thou hast attained the limitless outpourings…”

What follows is my provisional translation (in other words, not official or authorized; see here for more) of a Tablet by Bahá’u’lláh, the original text of which has been published in Áthár-i-Qalam-i-A‘lá, vol. 7 (2006 ed.), p. 804 (selection no. 398)According to a manuscript copy of this Tablet held at the British Library (Or15715, p. 156), the Tablet was addressed to Muḥammad-‘Alí, son of a certain Najaf-‘Alí.

In the Name of the Peerless Friend

O youth! God willing, through the bounty of the All-Merciful, thou hast attained the limitless outpourings of these divine days, enjoying the fruits of the celestial Tree and sustaining thyself therewith. Mention of thee was made before the divine Countenance, and these few Words now shine resplendent from the Dawning-place of the heavenly Pen, that thou mayest be illumined with the light of the Words of Him Who is the Dayspring of all names and attributes, in such wise that the traces of that light shall endure forevermore.

Blessed is thy father; he embraced this Cause when We were in those parts, and unto this beareth witness the Revealer of verses.

Strive that thou mightest remain steadfast in the Cause of God, for the Evil One hath lain and will continue to lie in wait. Under all conditions, cleave tenaciously to the Lord of the worlds, and detach thyself from all else but Him.

A typescript of the original Persian text of the Tablet appears below.
