What follows is my provisional translation (in other words, not official or authorized; see here for more) of a Tablet of Bahá’u’lláh, the original text of which has been published in Áthár-i-Qalam-i-A‘lá, vol. 1 (1996 ed.), p. 400 (selection no. 147).
In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Exalted, the All-Glorious
O Karím! Hear thou the Voice of thy Lord, the Exalted, the Mighty. He proclaimeth from the direction of this Prison and summoneth men to God, the King, the All-Glorious, the Beauteous.
I swear by the One True God, O Karím, that whensoever calamity increaseth on the Path of God, the Possessor of all names, the love of Bahá in the Cause of His Lord—the Almighty, the Most Bountiful—increaseth accordingly. I know not what fire hath been so ignited in the world as to set the hearts of its denizens ablaze!
Arise at My behest to make mention of Me amidst My servants. Beware lest thou be hindered by veils or swayed by the ascendancy of sovereigns. Seek protection in the Name of thy Lord—He, verily, will keep thee safe—and then rise above the horizon of assurance.
Say: By the righteousness of God! The Proof hath come from the All-Praised. Fear ye the Lord, O people of the Bayán, and deny not God, the Maker of the heavens and the earth.
Kindle thyself with the fire of the love of thy Lord in such wise that the peoples of the land shall feel its heat. Thus biddeth thee the Unconstrained on the part of Him Who is the Almighty, the Most Powerful.
Art thou saddened in thine inmost heart when He Who hath ever been thy Lord is in a state of conspicuous joy? There hath been ordained for thee, in the Kingdom of eternity, what the minds of those endued with understanding are powerless to grasp. Turn thou to the cynosure of grandeur and say:
“O Lord! Unto Thee have I come, detached from the world and all that is therein. O my God! I have set my face toward Thee. Sanctify me from whatsoever is abhorrent to Thy good-pleasure. Unloose, then, my tongue to celebrate Thy praise among Thy servants in a manner that beseemeth Thy glory and befitteth Thy majesty. Thou art, in truth, the All-Powerful, the Most Exalted, the Most High, the Most Great.”
