“Day and night have We have made mention of the exponents of divine unity, imploring that harmony and fellowship might be established…”

What follows is my provisional translation (in other words, not official or authorized; see here for more) of a passage from a Tablet of Bahá’u’lláh, the original text of which has been published in Áyát-i-Iláhí, vol. 2, p. 98.

Day and night have We have made mention of the exponents of divine unity, imploring that harmony and fellowship might be established among them all, that the horizons of the earth may be illumined with the light of concord, and those believers in the oneness of God remain protected from the tyranny of the infidels. Until now, the dwellers in the realm of true belief have not reflected upon what hath been the reason for their weakness and the strength of the infidels. At all times hath this Wronged One summoned the people of the world unto the straight Path of God, and made mention of that which hath elevated the proponents of His unity, but the ears of humankind have been debarred therefrom and their eyes deprived thereof. The recompense of the deeds wrought by most hath removed them far from the grace of God and His mercy. We beseech Him to awaken the slumbering through the sweet savors of awareness and to withhold not from the heedless the living waters of divine knowledge, that all may turn unto Him and ask of Him that which shall redound to their honor, their strength, and their exaltation. He, verily, is that Almighty One Who, with a single word, can transform abasement into glory, poverty into wealth, and ignorance into wisdom.

A typescript of the original Persian text of this passage appears below.
