What follows is my provisional translation (in other words, not official or authorized; see here for more) of a pilgrim’s notes of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá’s words in Persian, recorded in Muḥammad-‘Alí Fayḍí, Khuláṣi’í az Kháṭirát-i-Jináb-i-‘Abdu’l-Mítháq Mítháqíyyih, p. 72. According to that source, these words were spoken in February 1920.
The acquisition of confirmations is dependent on teaching the Cause. If the teaching is stopped, then confirmations will likewise cease. Confirmations are conditioned and contingent on arising. The believers must rise up, one and all, to teach the Cause, that they may behold how the hosts of confirmation render aid. The Blessed Beauty has said, “We shall aid whosoever will arise for the triumph of Our Cause with the hosts of the Concourse on high and a company of Our favored angels.”* The believers must rise up and propagate the Cause of God so that the hosts of confirmation and assistance may surround them. It is incumbent on each and every one of the believers to lead, in the span of a year, at least one person to the river of guidance by teaching them the Cause. In this blessed Cause, teaching is universally enjoined. All the believers must be actively engaged in teaching the Cause. The matter of teaching is not an individual or specific one; all are bidden to carry it out, and it is certain that every universal affair is divine and that its results are most significant and enduring. All the believers must arise to fulfill this binding obligation, that they may witness its positive effects and benefits in the kingdoms of earth and heaven.
