A Prayer for Marriage by Abdu’l-Baha

What follows is my provisional translation (in other words, not official or authorized; see here for more) of a prayer from ʻAbduʼl-Bahá, the original text of which is published in Muntakhabátí az Makátíb-i-Ḥaḍrat-i-ʻAbduʼl-Bahá, vol. 2, p. 4

This prayer has been extracted from a Tablet to Ali Kuli Khan, who had just gotten married to Florence Breed. The original Persian text of the full Tablet has been published in Yádnámiy-i-Ishráq-Khávarí, pp. 86–87.

O Divine Providence! Grant that this bond of companionship Thou hast fastened may be enduring, and join together this servant and this maidservant in both body and in spirit. Bestow abundant blessings upon this union, and make this marriage to be the cause of joy. Strengthen their spiritual sentiments and confer radiance upon them, that with the utmost righteousness and reverence for the truth, they may both be crowned with success in their service to Thy sacred threshold. May they wish only for Thee, seek Thee alone, and make no mention but the mention of Thee as they wander in search of Thee, utterly enamored of Thy beauteous Face. Thou art the Almighty, the Kind, the Bestower, the Beneficent, and Thou art the Sustainer, the Helper, the Most Generous, the Most Compassionate.

A typescript of the complete Persian text of this prayer appears below.
