What follows is my provisional translation (in other words, not official or authorized; see here for more) of a Tablet of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá written for the descendants of Áqá Ḥakím Faraju’lláh Káshání, in whose honor ‘Abdu’l-Bahá also wrote another Tablet provisionally translated here. The original text of the Tablet below has not been published; this facsimile of it, apparently in the handwriting of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, was kindly provided to me by Peyman Amoui, the grandson of Sárih Khánum, who was one of the recipients of this Tablet.
Ṭihrán
Care of Ḥájí Áqá Muḥammad ‘Aláqih-band
To Jináb-i-Ya‘qúb; Jináb-i-‘Azízu’lláh; Jináb-i-Mihdí; Jináb-i-Mírzá Músá; the handmaid of God, Sárih; and the handmaid of God, Maryam, upon them be the Glory of God, the Most Glorious
O ye who are nigh to the Threshold of God! Your letter was received, and the tribulations that have befallen you brought great sorrow. It is hoped that, through the bounties of God, order and tranquility might be established, and that ye may find a means of livelihood in Ṭihrán. In the words of Ḥáfiẓ:
These times, more bitter than poison, shall finally pass away
Perchance those times sweet as sugar will come again one day
Upon you be the Glory of the All-Glorious.
